La Verne Walk of Honor
Honoring Those Who Have Increased The Quality of Life In La Verne, CA.
At La Verne Walk of Honor, our mission is to pay tribute to the exceptional individuals who have selflessly contributed to the betterment of our community. Through our digital platform, we strive to share their inspiring stories and ensure that their legacies continue to thrive. We are dedicated to creating a meaningful connection between the past, present, and future, fostering a sense of community pride and gratitude.

A City is Born...
Barely 20 years after the end of the Civil War, railroad expansion transformed Southern California. In 1887, the Santa Fe railroad traversed what is now La Verne leading to a mini land boom which spawned the town of Lordsburg.
From it’s beginning, the new community drew energy and strength from the work of residents that came from all walks of life. After all, great communities do not just happen. It takes the passionate energy and service from many of its residents to make a city truly shine. These are the people who have contributed greatly to our quality of life and who we wish to honor at La Verne Walk of Honor.
Join us as we recognize the significant contributions these individuals have made.
Pride of La Verne...
For more than 60 years, La Verne was know as ‘Heart of the Orange Empire’. Thousands of acres of sweet Navel oranges and other citrus flourished in the city. After harvest, the fruit was transported to numerous packing houses for processing and shipment around the country. Each ‘house’ had their own colorful labels or brands, extoling the beauty and lifestyle of Southern California. One of these labels has been adopted for many years as a symbol of Excellence in awards by the City of La Verne. The ‘Walk of Honor’ has followed this lead, using elements of the label in the plaque design.
